In the Mater Hospital I also had to make the updating of the tables in sqlserver automatic as the previous attempt to do this failed becaused MS Access queries where launched from windows using windows schedular, I wrote code in vba to run queries which caught errors instead of crashing out, also I set system up so that log would be emailled to supervisor account so I could monitor that everything was ok without logging into server.

I fixed any problems I saw with the Mater intranet website and developed additional Asp pages such as the A&E Diary. I also fixed and added on features for the Mater Physio system which was developed in access 97 and developed before my predecessor. I improved the systems for pallactive care and I developed a surgery log system.

In addition to this I acted as IT support which involved the answering of calls, unlocking of accounts through active directory, releasing of emails in surf control, setting permisions of folders and databases for users, VNC onto users computers to solve problems and the manual fixing of hardware problems.

The work I did at the Mater was very intensive and very usefully for my first taste of the IT work. It was either sink or swim and I think I did ok and came out enjoying work.
