RE-UNION
Back to my youth as a grave lay open,
And awe into me it was instilled,
And sad was I then when my grandmother’s body,
Was laid in that grave and the earth re- filled.
Today I saw that grave re-open,
For her daughter who was being laid to rest,
She who was my aunt and godmother
Cuddled again to her mother’s breast.
And subdued was I in that graveyard standing,
The grave contemplated and sighed for the past,
And I thought with affection how now the two Catherines,
Had come together to rest here at last
